Simona DeMarchi PT, CME III certified practitioner. Dearest Ramon, It is with great honour that I write this letter of tribute to you - a man who has been my mentor as well as my dear friend for many years now. Your life's work of nurturing the creation of Cuevas MEDEK Exercises is a gift to so many. Not only to the families who entrust their precious children to your care, but also to the numerous therapists from around the world who have been inspired by your teaching. Personally, my physiotherapy career has been shaped from the very beginning by CME. From my early days as a student in my final clinical placement, I knew that MEDEK (as it was named "back then"!) was a technique that I wanted to pursue. And throughout my years of working with you I have never wavered from that early intention. CME has given me a great sense of professional satisfaction, a sense that continues to drive my daily practice. I wait with great anticipation for each of your visits to Canada, knowing that I will have the opportunity to continue to learn from you and to further refine my skills. You are truly a wonderful teacher. Since completing my CMEIII certification in August of 2003, I have acted as your assistant for the CMEI and II courses in Canada. I am so very proud to stand alongside you and to have the opportunity to share your wonderful technique with our colleagues. Each time that you teach the CME courses, the physiotherapists and occupational therapists who attend have the amazing opportunity to learn directly from you, the creator of Cuevas MEDEK Exercises. I strongly encourage any therapist who has interest in CME, to participate in the CME Educational Program. This is certainly not a technique that one can learn from simply reading a book. It takes a great deal of dedication, however (speaking from personal experience!) the effort is rewarded many times over. I would like to close with a personal note of thanks to you. You have enriched my career as a physiotherapist and have given me the tools to help so many wonderful children and their families. People often comment that I am very passionate about CME. This passion comes easily to me and is a result of the many “firsts” that I have shared with “my kids” (and their families!). Although each day comes with its challenges, I thoroughly enjoy my work. This is an invaluable gift that you have given to me. Thank you. |
